It has finally reached the end of the semester. All my assignments have been handed in which means I can finally look forward to Christmas after the last month and a half of stress.
2 nights ago we decided to have a student Christmas dinner which was the perfect start to the festive season. At first, going for a carvery was on the mind but because our student house looks all Christmassy, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to cook a Christmas dinner (I'd never even cooked a Sunday dinner, never mind a Christmas dinner!)
It wasn't surprisingly that stressful to cook and was relatively cheap at just over £30 for 4 of us (and there was a lot of food on the plates!) After seeing my grandma and mum slave away many times cooking Christmas dinner over the years, I thought it would be hell to cook to try and get all the timings of the food right but me and a housemate together worked as a team and it turned out to be a success!
From turkey to sweet potato mash, honey-glazed parsnips to stuffing and brussel sprouts to pigs in blankets (my personal favourite), the dinner was so satisfying just because I had a main part of cooking it (as well as the fact that I'm a starving student). And not forgetting the good old Yorkshire pudding!
It must have been the largest meal I have eaten since September and wow I was stuffed, MAJOR FOOD OVERLOAD (but at least my stomach was kept from rumbling for a good few hours for a change!) I see this pre-Christmas dinner as preparation for the big one which is less than 2 weeks away, however, I don't think my stomach is prepared for the amount of food that I will be consuming over Christmas!
Are you having or going to have a pre-Christmas dinner? Do you plan on stuffing your face over Christmas or are you going to try and limit your food intake?
