As a huge lover of makeup, I'm also a huge lover of removing makeup at night in order for my skin to refresh and rejuvenate itself. I have never thought that makeup wipes completely remove all traces of makeup, only the majority of it. After trying many products from The Body Shop, Boots and Superdrug I finally discovered Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water which is without doubt the ultimate product at removing makeup. This product proves that makeup wipes alone don't completely remove all makeup.
Try it for yourself! Use your normal face wipes that you would use to take off your makeup then using some of the Micellar Cleansing Water on a cotton wool pad or ball, wipe the cotton wool in a downwards motion all over your face (including your lips and eyes) and see how much MORE makeup comes off your face. I don't even want to consider how much makeup I was unknowingly wearing to bed before I came across this product! There is no need to rinse your face after, I usually smother my face in Vitamin E moisturiser after using it so that I wake up with super soft skin.
It is a non-scented liquid that resembles water. It looks like water and acts just like water - there is no stinging on the face, its as though its not even a manufactured product, its just as though I'm wiping cotton wool dampened with water all over my face! For people who wear a full face of makeup, I would recommend using wipes first to remove the majority of your makeup otherwise a lot of cotton wool would be getting used! However for those people who wear minimal makeup, you can skip the wipes if your prefer and use the cleansing water straight away. As a girl who loves her liquid eyeliner, mascara and lipstick, I have always had trouble completely removing all of these products from my face. Using wipes to scrub and scrub at my eyes and lips can get painful and make my skin sore and red however with this cleansing water, a few wipes and all the product is gone! Amazing!
Not only does it remove all traces of makeup (and I mean ALL), I think it has improved my skin in the short time I have been using it for (around 2 months). I think it makes fresh makeup set better too as pores get unclogged with this product meaning my foundation looks fresh throughout the day which I have always had a problem with (even though I haven't changed the foundation I use). I also think the cleansing water actually makes my face clean, my skin feels squeaky clean and soft!
At only £4.99 for 400ml from Boots, this product is an absolute steal. I have been using it almost every night for the last 2 months and have only used around a third of the bottle so it is probably a better buy than wipes! Its definitely a beauty bargain, particularly if you're a student who loves your makeup (like me!) A cleanser, remover and hydrater all in one! What more could you ask for?
Have you tried using this product before? Would you recommend it to a friend? How do you usually remove your makeup at the end of the day?
