Lately I've been getting a few comments on how well my skin looks. I believe this is down to my night-time facial routine as well as my application of makeup.
In this post I will discuss my night-time facial routine. I will post about my makeup routine in the upcoming weeks.
First I use Simple's Cleansing Facial wipe to remove the majority of my makeup. These wipes have a nice soft texture so it's not harsh on my face which I have experienced in the past with some brands. It's pretty good at removing the majority of my makeup as they feel quite wet whereas some wipes can feel quite dry in comparison which is no use for removing makeup. I would highly recommend these wipes.
I then use Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water which I rave about (read my review here) to remove all excess makeup and makeup that is harder to remove such as mascara.
I then steam my face to open up my pores in order for my next step. This would also be a good time to tame your eyebrows as opening your pores makes it less painful when plucking any stray hairs.
I then either use The Body Shop's Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Exfoliator (great for combination skin like mine where my T-zone can get oily and the rest of my face can become dry). The fine jojoba beads and olive stone not only exfoliate and clarify but mattify my skin too or the Body Shop's Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub (great for blemish-prone skin which I have depending on my diet and fluid intake). I alternate between the two each night. The scrubs make my skin feel so clean, fresh and soft and because I have steamed my face, it really works beneath the surface of the skin. I then use a hot flannel to remove the scrub once it has done it's magic.
Again using a hot flannel, I gently press it over my eyes. I do this for two reasons. One because it reduces puffiness of the eyes and two because my optician recommended I do it as I can get a build up of gunk in my eye which can block some of the small ducts which can cause my eyes to hurt, particularly when I'm tired. This is caused by central heating and air-conditioning. I find a hot flannel over my eyes particularly soothing too which is an added bonus so I would still recommend you do this.
I then splash cold water over my face to close and seal all my pores whilst my skin is freshly cleansed. This prevents any impurities from getting trapped in my pores.
I then use Simple's Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser which is amazing for combination skin yet again. It has Zinc PCA goodness which absorbs excess oil, phytosphingosine which helps reduce blemishes and tapioca starch which helps mattify skin. It also contains Vitamin E which is an essential vitamin for skin in my opinion and pro-vitamin 5 which restores, softens and smoothes skin. With it being from the Simple range, it naturally has no harsh chemicals that can upset skin. I literally just layer it all over my face without rubbing it in and let it soak in. After a few minutes, my skin is so soft that it's hard not to touch. However you shouldn't touch your face too much as this will dirty your cleansed skin.
I therefore wash my hands then I use my fingers in a circular motion all over my face to stimulate blood flow to the skin (your face will turn red but don't worry! This means you will have properly stimulated the blood flow to your skin!) This reduces puffiness of the face as it stimulates and clears any excess fluid from the lymphatic system as well as sagging of the skin as you get older. And I find it a perfect way to relax before bed.
