FOOD PREP

With a very busy month coming up for me because of University, I needed a quick way to make my evening meal. I have recently noticed a lot of people, particularly on Instagram, doing food prep, or food preparation which I thought I would have a go at. Not only does it make meals in bulk saving you time, it means that it saves the hassle of having to wash up every night which I hate doing anyway.

I thought I would just prep my evening meal as this tends to be the meal that takes the longest to cook and at night, the last thing I want to do really is cook and wash up, especially when I'll be spending most of every day revising for the next month. I thought I would just make 6 meals as I tend to eat at my boyfriend's or go out for food once a week or so. As I am on a diet, my evening meal is very healthy (for me anyway!)

I firstly needed some plastic containers so my food could be kept fresh in the fridge. I bought 6 individual plastic tubs for 50p each from Wilkinsons. The ingredients I used to prep the 6 meals was: 3 turkey steaks; 6 sweet potatoes; 3 peppers; 1 bag of spinach; 1 bag of kale; 1 large broccoli stalk; 1 large cauliflower; 6 eggs; 24 cherry tomatoes.

I fried the turkey steaks as this is the quickest (although perhaps not the healthiest) way and used half a steak for each plastic container. I chose turkey as the meat as this is a very lean meat, perfect for my diet. I mashed the sweet potatoes and split the volume between the 6 containers. I used half a pepper for each container and left these raw as this is supposed to be the healthiest way of eating pepper. I split the bag of spinach and kale between the 6 containers and also left these raw for extra health benefits. I cooked the broccoli and cauliflower and split these between the 6 containers. I hard boiled the 6 eggs as I think eggs are so yummy this way and they are healthier than fried eggs and a lot less messier than scrambled egg. I added 4 cherry tomatoes to each container.

I could either eat these meals straight out of the fridge or a quick heat up in the microwave is just as yummy if not more.

I have to say, since starting this diet I am CRAVING chocolate so badly. It takes 3 weeks to break a bad habit so I am going to try my hardest to go without chocolate, no matter how hard it is.

Have you tired food prepping? What are your favourite foods to prep? Do you have any other time-saving ways of making food?
