Most girls, if not every girl I know is lost without their handbag and the essential items it contains, I know I would be! There's hardly ever a time I leave the house without my handbag apart from when I pop to the shop just a few streets away to get a few things. Every girl's handbag contains different items personal to them. Wanna know what's in my handbag? Take a peek.
Mirror - you never know when you're going to need a mirror! Maybe I'll end up eating something messy throughout the day whilst I'm out and about and need to give my face a quick check to see if there is any remnants of food so I don't end up walking around with my face covered in food. I'm always checking my makeup incase I need to reapply any. With my mirror I can do it anywhere which is particularly good as I can actually see my face in the natural daylight rather than some artificial lighting indoors where if I do need to reapply any makeup, I may end up looking like an oompa loompa without the natural daylight. I know you could use the front camera on your phone but I don't think a front camera has good enough quality to reapply makeup, I don't want to end up looking splodgy!
Sheer loose powder and brush - you never know when you may end up getting your shine on! Particularly shopping in the winter where you wrap up warm for the cold outside and when you walk into a shop and feel the heat then boom, the amount of layers you're wearing makes you too warm, potentially causing shine to the T-zone (this has happened to me many times!) When I do get shiny I feel as though everyone is staring at me so a quick fix of sheer loose powder boosts my confidence.
Concealer - you never know when you're going to breakout and carrying a concealer just in case is a necessity to me! Particularly in my long days of University when I have lab where it can get pretty warm! (Another reason for me carrying sheer loose powder).
Lipstick and vaseline - vaseline is essential for those bitter and harsh winds and lipstick is always guaranteed to come off throughout the day whilst eating, drinking and talking.
Liquid eyeliner - everyone who knows me knows how important my eyeliner is. My eyeliner is pretty sturdy and weatherproof, even in the strong winds up here in Newcastle which makes my eyes water considerable amounts. That's the main reason I carry my eyeliner about even though I don't think I have ever had to reapply eyeliner when I'm out and about.
Eyebrow pencil - another extreme item of value to me. I always get paranoid that my eyebrows become uneven during the day the longer I wear it for or it gets smudged so I carry this just in case, not that this has ever happened to me luckily.
White waterline pencil - my white waterline pencil is always rubbing off (which I'm not surprised at seeing as it is in contact with my eye) and without this my eyes look tiny, hence why I carry it. I use this quite often when I'm out and about.
Sharpener - all pencils, including eyebrow and waterline pencils get blunt. They are no use when they are blunt so carrying a sharpener is essential.
Deodorant - you never know if you may end up having to do something that has the potential to make you a bit sweaty, even just running for the bus for example! Nobody likes the smell of body odour so deodorant is a must. I would end up getting extremely paranoid that I smelt if I didn't use any to refresh myself at frequent intervals throughout the day.
Perfume - for a quick burst of fragrance! I never carry glass bottles of perfume out with me one because it would make my bag even heavier than it already is and two because it may end up smashing and leaking over everything in my bag. Instead I use perfume or body sprays that are in a plastic bottle. I either take a Victoria's Secret spray out with me or a Soap and Glory body spray just so I can smell fragrant throughout the day.
Nail file - a chipped nail that ends up getting caught on every single fabric and piece of clothing infuriates me! A quick use of the nail file and problem solved!
Tablet - particularly useful for University. All the lectures I attend as well as my timetable are on my tablet plus I can look at social media without draining the battery on my phone which is particularly useful for my 12 hour days at University!
Phone - a necessity in every single bag I can guarantee! I'm lost without my phone, it contains everything I need on it! From social media to be able to contact friends and family as well as reminders, my phone is probably the most important thing in my bag!
Purse - of course hardly anything is free these days so taking a purse out is always mandatory. As well as the obvious, I also keep my student card in it as well as any Metro or train tickets I need.
Keys - I need to actually be able to get in and out of my house, especially in this cold weather where being stuck outside is the last thing I need!
Diary - I love carrying around a diary as old fashioned as it sounds, I always write stuff in the calendar app on my phone and forget about it! Whereas in my diary I can see everything and write any reminders and I am guaranteed to see it.
Chewing gum - a must to make breath smell fresh (particularly after eating or drinking something smelly, I find coffee the worst for this!)
Water - I get dehydrated so quickly, sometimes to the point where I feel like fainting. A quick drink of water sorts that out for me. Also, if I end up developing a cough during the day that leaves me with a sore throat, water will help! I also don't really want to be buying water when I'm out when I can get water for free (well not technically) from the tap at home.
Tissues - you never know when your nose is going to run or if you drop food down you, a tissue is the perfect solution, The main reason I carry tissues is for the use in public toilets - if there's no toilet roll then I don't have to shout to my friend to get me some as I can just use a tissue.
Hand sanitiser - the amount of public toilets that don't have soap is disgusting! As a Biomedical Science student, I know the importance of handwashing with soap to remove bacteria which could be potentially harmful. A hand sanitiser is a quick fix.
What would we find in your handbag? Does your bag have similar items to me? What else would you suggest that I carry in my bag that I may find useful?
